Your weekly roundup of all the best things do in London this weekend with kids...
One of our favourite things to do with the kids is head out into the Essex countryside to visit the rescued animals that call Hopefield Animal Sanctuary their home. Set over 53 acres this is THE place to bring your little ones for an ethically minded day out with animals. This weekend the whole sanctuary is open including their exotic areas which house the abandoned and unwanted souls that should never have been pets in the first place. See skunks, meerkat, parrots and plenty more in one of only three weekends in 2024 that they are allowed to have these types of animals on display (they need a zoo license to open these areas permanently but the rules that go with that license do not align with their ethical ethos). Every penny raised goes back to the charity, and the weekend also promises extra activities including an animal trail, soft play bus, BBQ and more.
When: 4th & 5th May 2024, 10am until 4pm
Where: Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Sawyers Hall Lane, Brentwood CM15 9BZ
Cost: Under 2s are free, all other tickets from £7. Booking advised.
If you can't make the Exotic Animal Weekend but still want to check out this adventure for a good cause, then bounce on over on Bank Holiday Monday for a day packed with inflatables. From a giant pirate ship to a disco dome, and plenty of other inflatables for all ages, this is family fun at its best. Entry into the sanctuary is included, there's free parking and also the chance to visit the likes of Millie the blind lamb, Bonnie & Pumpkin the Highland Cows and Chewie the Alpaca, all of who you will be helping to support by buying a ticket.
When: 6th May 2024, 10am until 4pm
Where: Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Sawyers Hall Lane, Brentwood CM15 9BZ
Cost: Under 2s are free, all other tickets from £7. Booking advised.
